Born María Dolores Serra Maldonado in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Beloved wife of Ramón Hernández for 42 years, she was also the loving mother of Valerie (born 1967), Richard (1970-1972), Jesús Ramón (born 1974), Luis Alberto (born 1975), Juan Carlos (born 1976) and Lourdes Milagros (born 1979). She was a dear mother-in-law to Ralph Betancourt and a doting grandmother to Ralph Luke (born 1997) and Richard (born 2001). She was also a devoted sister to Carmelo, Purisima, Juan, Jose, Ruben, Abraham and Yvette. She succumbed to cancer on February 4, 2008. Known to many by her nickname "Medi" ("Mery").
