Blanche Manis

KINGSPORT - Blanche L. Manis, 94, formerly of Mt. Carmel, went to be with the Lord Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) in Orlando, Fla.

Born Jan. 6, 1905 in Hawkins County, she was the daughter of the late John and Cora Lawson.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorene; a son, Johnny; brothers, James (Jay) Lawson, Clay Lawson and Sturm Lawson; sister, Etta Mae Hurd; granddaughter, Judith Lee Hurd; and great-granddaughter, Bronwen Darnell.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jess (Alma) Hurd and Mrs. Helen Castle, both of Kingsport; three sons, Otis (I.D.) Manis, White Pine, Tenn., Charles Manis, Surgoinsville, and Evertte Manis, Longwood, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Grant Lawson, Rutledge, Tenn., and Kyle Lawson, Stanton, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Jess Hurd and Jeff Hurd officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
