Son of Archibald and Margaret Peters Ewart.
Archibald M. Ewart, for more than fifty years an employe of the Babcock & Wilcox company, one of the builders of the Boulder dam, died at 1:10 p.m. yesterday at Springfield hospital. He was 79 years old. Death followed several years of illness. Last week he was stricken with double pneumonia and was removed to the hospital Oct. 15.
Mr. Ewart was born in Boston, Mass. When a boy he came to Springfield with his parents and grew to manhood here. He first was employed by the A. L. Ide foundry and later removed to Chicago to accept a position with the structural engineering firm of Babcock & Wilcox of New York City. Advancing to the post of chief inspector, Mr. Ewart worked for this firm in a number of cities throughout the United States. Fifteen years ago he retired and returned to Springfield, where he has since resided.
In 1887 Mr. Ewart married Miss Elizabeth Kussmaul of Springfield, who survives. He was a member of the Elks Club. Services will be held Saturday afternoon at the residence. - IL State Journal, Springfield, IL, 10-24-1935
