Barbara A. Fowler, 82, of Oswego died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007 at Oswego Hospital.
She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Samuel and Flossie (Peacock) Axtell. She was a Girl Scout leader for 20 years and taught Sunday school in Wolcott. She was a member of the Hannibal Community Church and helped to form the Hannibal Fire Department Auxiliary. She also worked in the Hannibal Free Library.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Fowler, who died March 3, 1994 after 50 years; a brother, Sam (Carlton) Axtell; a sister, Betty Cook; and a grandson, Jeff Fowler.
Surviving are two sons: Michael Fowler of Constantia and Jeffery Fowler of Hannibal; five daughters: Ann Fowler of Phoenix; Jean Wulfert of Minetto; Pam Fowler of Liverpool, England; Gwen Fowler of Oswego, and Gail Bilow of Lock, NY; two brothers: Dale Axtell of Centreville, Md. and Stanley Axtell of Chittenango; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 pm at the Young & Son Funeral Home, 322 Oneida St., Fulton, Dec. 29. A service will be held at 3 pm. Sunday, Dec. 30 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairdale Cemetery.
