Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Aug. 25, 1946

Arthur was the oldest of five children. On November 17, 1877, he married Mary Jane Kelsey at Muscatine, Iowa, and they raised seven children: Laura Kelsey, Leonard, Adelia, Aaron, Raynard, Elda Evalina, and Ernest.

He was employed by the Kaiser Lumber Company, where he took lumber from cribs that floated in the river, and transferred them to a conveyor belt on shore. After the lumber mill shut down, he dug shells along the Mississippi River bank. He sold them to buyers who brought them to Muscatine on barges, to be used in the button factories. He later opened a small button cutting factory in the large garage behind his home, and cut button blanks from shells.
