Durinda Jane Lillard Slough moved from this life into her eternal home in heaven on Saturday January 26, 2008. Durinda was born in San Antonio, Texas November 12, 1918 the daughter of Annabelle Lynch and James Thomas Lillard.
Durinda received Christ as her Savior and Lord as a young adult. She was baptized by her pastor, Reverend Bill Simmons in the First Southern Baptist Church, Wadford City, North Dakota on April 24, 1955.
G.C. and Durinda were married October 1, 1953, in Casper, Wyoming by the Reverend Dr. Charles Bream.
Durinda was manager and hairdresser at the Menger Salon in San Antonio for several years. After she and G.C. moved to Temple in 1956 she served as a certified medical technician as well as certified record librarian at Kings Daughters Hospital and later worked with her husband as secretary of Shallow Ford Construction of Temple.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, 2nd Lieutenant James Lillard who lost his life while serving as a U.S. Army paratrooper in World War II; and her sister, Martha Lorreta Taylor.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years G.C. Slough of Temple her step-daughter, Marsha Miller of Coleman, Texas, two grandsons, one granddaughter, Four great granddaughters, Two great grandsons, several nephews and nieces who she loved dearly. She is also survived by a multitude of friends and loved ones throughout Central Texas and well beyond.
G.C. and Durinda became members of Memorial Baptist Church December 10, 1956, and have served faithfully for all these many years
Pallbearers will be Dick Stafford, Eldo Johnson, Houston Brown, Vaughn Baird, Don Davis, Bob McQueen, Bert Pope and Ellis Marshall.
A family visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday January 29, 2008 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
Funeral services for Mrs. Slough will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday January 30, 2008 at Memorial Baptist Church in Temple with Rev. Roy Parker officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio, Texas.

G.C. would like to personally thank the countless friends, church members and neighbors who have provided food, prayers, and encouragement over these last very difficult months.
