Cathern Giddens, a life long resident in the Frazer community passed away at a St Joseph hospital, June 1 after a six months illness.
Aunt Kate, as she was commonly known was born April 8, 1850 and lived to the age of 84 years, 1 month and 23 days.
On November 22, 1868, she was united in marriage to William Giddens to which union were born five children. Two died in infancy, and two later in life. She is survived by one daughter , Mrs. Arville Russell of St Joseph and one sister Mrs. Cerilda Ridge of Clarksdale. Also five grandchildren.
Aunt Kate was a member of the old Frazer Methodist Church and her membership remained there until the church was torn down.
She was loved and respected by all who knew her.
The remains were brought to the Sullins Funeral Home and held until Saturday, when she was taken to her home near Frazer. Funeral services were held at the Frazer Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, June 3. Rev. E. C. Whitsett of Liberty delivered a very appropriate sermon. The body was laid to rest in the Frazer Cemetery.
