An actor of the Rustaveli Theatre (the largest and one of the oldest theaters of Georgia) since 1959, he was cast in virtually all major productions of this Tbilisi-based theatre, including Shakespeare's Hamlet, Richard III and King Lear, The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht as well as Georgian plays including The White Banners, Kvatchi Kvatchantiradze and many more.

On the big screen he was cast in a wide range of feature films including The Wishing Tree (1976, director Tengiz Abuladze), Kvarkvare (1978, director Devi Abashidze) and Iavnana (1994, director Nana Janelidze).

His notable roles include Adam (Divine Comedy), Tavadi Kotsia (Gushindelni), Devdariani (Sabraldebo daskvna), Iliko (Me, Grandma, Iliko and Ilarion), Simon Chachava (The Caucasian Chalk Circle), Lord (Richard III), Kent (King Lear), Don Quixote (Tskhovreba Don Kikhotisa da Sancho Panchosi) and Rasputin (Kvachi Kvachantiradze). Most recently he was cast for contemporary Georgian films including Blind Dates (2013) and Brighton 4th (in production, director Levan Koguashvili).

He died of complications from COVID-19 in Tbilisi at the age of 85.
