Aged 21 Years, 8mos, 11dys; typhoid fever. Died at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.

"Bluford, who was the champion wrestler and wing shot at Yale as well as an excellent student during his senior year" - from father Bluford's 1904 biography.

Died, at 9:35 a.m. Friday, May 3, 1901, at Yale college, New Haven, Conn., of typhoid fever, Bluford Wilson, jr., son of Maj. Bluford Wilson, aged 21 years. Mr. Wilson was in a critical condition for several days previous to his death. A few weeks ago he took part in one of the wrestling matches at the college and sustained a fracture of two ribs. An attack of typhoid fever followed, and resulted in his death. His parents were at his bedside when the end came, having been notified several days ago of the seriousness of his condition. Major Wilson left at once but Mrs. Wilson remained at home until a few days ago. She arrived at her son's bedside Thursday evening, and later sent a message to relatives in Springfield informing them of the true condition of the patient.

Bluford Wilson, jr., spent two years of his life after finishing school here, at the St. Paul school, Concord, N. H. At the time of his death he was taking the academic course at Yale, and would have graduated next month.

He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Dickerman and Mrs. P. B. Warren, all of this city; and one brother, Arthur Wilson, now at West Point.

"Gentle, generous, chivalrous and modest, Bluford Wilson was a young man of charming personality. He represented the most attractive type of the ideal young gentleman and bore the palm of a richly merited popularity. He has indeed been graduated into the second stage of our existence and although his life on this side the grave has been a short one, yet we thankfully remember it has been manly and beautiful and is only the more blessed beyond."

The body is expected to arrive here Sunday afternoon. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL, 5-4-1901
