William Leo Cundiff, Tulsa, Oklahoma resident, departed this life at the age of 87 years.
Leo was the son of Lester Bryant and Mattie Mary (Riggs) Cundiff. He was the nephew of playwright Rollie Lynn Riggs which gave him great pride.
Upon graduation from Chillicothe Business College he serviced in the Philippines with the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
After the war Leo rose to the head teller position at the National Bank of Tulsa where he met and married the love of his life, Gladys Irene Tipton from Davenport. They raised two children..Gary and Sally Ann.
Leo had many hobbies including photography, automobiles, sports, recording and listening to music. He studied electronics and became a technical writer with Douglas Aircraft. He later worked at Chrysler Corporation with NASA during the Mercury missions in Huntsville, Alabama. After the Mercury missions Leo returned to Tulsa for North American Rockwell Corporation. He earned a realtor license, designed and sold the "Tulsa" car tag, and then retired as Chief of Oklahoma Capitol Patrol, Tulsa Division. In his retirement, astronomy became a passion. He designed and built a dome to house his telescopes, with which he gazed in wonderment at the universe.
