Doris Purkey

Doris Purkey, 83, of Garland died March 28, 2009, at Doctors Hospital in Dallas. Services are at 1:30 p.m. today in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with interment following at Memoryland Memorial Park. Rev. Royce Litchfield will officiate.

Mrs. Purkey was born April 28, 1925, in Merit to Kent and Agnes Stinebaugh Owens. On Oct. 13, 1940, she married Wayne Purkey in Caddo Mills. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Her survivors include daughters Beverly Youker and husband Steve of Garland and Linda Youngblood and husband Corbin of Mesquite; two sisters, Bertena Dorman of Greenville and Mildred Cauble of Campbell; grandsons Vince Youngblood of Garland and Michael Youngblood of McKinney; granddaughters Susan Wenzel of Mesquite and Stacy Wells of Garland; great-granddaughters Kourtnee Youngblood of McKinney and Kayla Youngblood of Mesquite; a brother-in-law, Lester Purkey and wife Raye of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Betty Purkey; sisters Lois Morris, Elsie Mae Smith and Bessie Thulis; and brothers Johnny, Raymond and Bill Owens.
