James Columbus Eoff was the youngest child of (Walter) Ervin Eoff and Dora Belle Gibbons, both natives of Arkansas. James' siblings were Pearl Evelyn (Eoff) Bowen, William M Eoff, Calvin E Eoff (d.y.) Henry Daniel Eoff, Hilluard Eoff, Dorothy Francis (Eoff) Bowen,and Troy Franklin Eoff, all raised in Newton County, Arkansas.
James married Sarah Alice Little, the daughter of John Clyde Little and Wilma Parker, April 26, 1946, the record in Carroll County, Arkansas. They were the parents of Larry James Eoff and Carolyn Sue (Eoff) Meisner.
From his obituary:
"Mr Eoff served in the Army from 1942-1945 as an infantryman. He served in the European Theater, Rhineland, France, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome and central
Europe. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, six Bronze Stars, the Bronze Arrowhead for spearheading invasion, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, three overseas ribbons and the French Fourragere. He worked as a pipefitter for 20 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Pipefitters Union."
