Dan York, 70, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 1964, at the Scott County Hospital after a lingering illness. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, a veteran of World War I, and a member of American Legion Post No. 136.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Newport York of Oneida, Tennessee; 4 brothers, John York, Riley York and Joe York all of Clinton, Tennessee, Silas York of Route 2, Pioneer, Tennessee.

American Legion Post No. 136 served as pallbearers and World War I veterans served as honorary pallbearers. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Friday, September 18, 1964, from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Revs. Roy Blevins and Virgil Cecil officiating. Interment followed in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. West in charge.
