Letha D. Ellis, 81, of Robbins, died suddenly Saturday morning, January 22, 1994, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Robbins on November 23, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Davis and the late Betty Litton Davis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers: Harold, Bernard, Lawrence, and Houlk Davis. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher from the Scott County school system and was a member of the Scott County Retired Teachers Association. She was a secondary, elementary and an English teacher, and was the county coordinator of special education. She retired after teaching 40 years but continued teaching adult education for an additional 18 years. She was a 50-year member of the Sunshine Chapter #279, Order of the Eastern Star, of Robbins. Survivors include her husband, Eugene Ellis, of Robbins; one son, Gene Ellis and wife Margaret, of Dalton, Ga.; one daughter, Kaye Bilbrey and husband, Jim of Oneida; five grandchildren: Aaron and Stephen Ellis, John Edward Clark, and Heather and Brett Bilbrey; one great-grandchild, Jonathan Davin Clark; one sister, Flonnie Kline of Robbins; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday evening at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Kazee and Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Rev. Kazee also sang. Interment was Monday at the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers included Brett Shannon Bilbrey, John Edward Clark, Aaron Clifton Ellis and Stephen Edward Ellis.
