Thelma Ann Abston Butler, 84, of Oneida, died October 8, 2001, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Huntsville.

Born in Roane County, April 4, 1917, she was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Kelly Abston; her husband, Louis (Mousey) Butler; three sons: Glen Butler, Arvil (Dude) Butler, and Arnold Butler; three brothers, Eugene Abston, Ebert Abston, and Tommy Abston; and one sister, Bessy.

She is survived by three sons: George Butler and wife, Debbie, and Gene Butler and wife, Margaret, both of Oneida; and Sonny Butler and wife, Kelly, of Soddy Daisy; two daughters, Cynthia Faye Wright and Carolyn Sue Johnson, both of Oneida; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five greatgreat-grandchildren, two sisters, Hazel Duncan of Oneida, and Nanny Bedford of Harriman; special friend and neighbor, B.D. Boyatt of Oneida; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted October 10, 2001 in the chapel of West–Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Day and Rev. Ted Stegall officiating. Music was provided by the O'Neal Family and the Chambers Family Singers. Interment was conducted October 11, in Hazel Valley Cemetery in Oneida.
