Silver Springs Signal Thursday February 26, 1914
The community was greatly shocked Sunday evening, Feb. 22 by the sudden death of little Robert Earl Hatch, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hatch. He was 7 years and 11 months of age. His death was caused by cerebral spinal meningitis and he was ill only a few hours. On Sunday afternoon he was hastily taken to the Warsaw hospital where physicians did everything possible, but to no avail and he passed away at 8:30 in the evening. Earl was a bright, manly little fellow and a very sweet little singer and will be sadly missed by the fond and devoted parents, and also by the many relatives, friends and schoolmates. The bereaved father and mother have the sympathy of all. The funeral was held from the home of his parents Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Vosburgh officiating. The burial was at Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Hatch wish to express their heartfelt thanks to all the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted them during their bereavement, also to the singers and those who sent the beautiful flowers.
