The sad news of the death of Mrs. Clarissa Jane Mitchell was received in Big Pine on Monday. Her death occurred in Santa Ana. Mrs. Mitchell was well known throughout Owen's Valley and she was an early pioneer resident of Big Pine, coming here from Nevada in 1886. The best of her years were spent in Big Pine, and she was always closely associated with every good work for the advancement of the community. Of late years she had spent a large part of her time in Southern California returning every summer for a visit with her relatives and friends for she always felt that big Pine was truly her home. She was a most friendly, helpful person with a smile and a cheery greeting for everyone. She has left a host of friends wherever she was known. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Ontario Canada on July 30, 1855 and passed away on May 04, 1924.
