Olympic Athlete. He represented his native Czechslovakia at the 1948 Summer Olympic Games in London. An expert canoeist, he won the gold medal in the C-1 10,000-meter event. He also won a silver medal at the 4th ICF Flatwater Racing World Championships in Macon, France, in 1954. He died from a heart ailment.
