Delilah Geneva Dailey Peyton daughter of Raymond Dailey and Ann Quirk Dailey.
Of Irish parental ancestry was born March 19, 1830 in San Augustine County, in the Republic of Texas.
Her parents and one other family who came with them were the first white settlers in Texas. Her grandfather, Henry Quirk, went to Spain in person and got a grant from the King of Spain for a league and a labor (4,605) of land, including the present town, or city of San Augustine. This transaction is on record in Bexar County Court House, San Antonio, Texas.
Little is known of her girlhood. She was living with her parents in Louisana when she met and married George Washington Peyton, December 23, 1851.
