OBITUARY from JASPER COUNTY NEWS, Jasper County, Iowa, May 17, 1928:
Mrs. Ira Fugard Dies
Mrs. Ira Fugard, resident of this city for 22 years, died Friday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. Francis Farmer, 604 East Four and one-half street South, at the age of 77 years. Mrs. Fugard had been failing in health for the last two weeks. Bronchial pneumonia was the cause of her death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the home at 604 East Four and one-half street South, and burial was in Newton Union cemetery. Dr. W. H. Blancke, pastor of the local Lutheran church, had charge of the services.
Anna Allum was born near Graysville, Pa., Dec. 22, 1850 and died in this city May 11. She was united in marriage to Ira G. Fugard, March 24, 1881 and to this union four children were born. Dolly died in infancy and three daughters survive and they are: Mrs. Rhae Wilson of Buffalo Lake, Minn.; Mrs. Glen Smith of Des Moines and Mrs. Francis Farmer of this city and one granddaughter, Geraldine Wilson of Buffalo Lake, Minn. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Lydia Huffman of Graysville, Pa.
Mrs. Fugard was a graduate of the Waynesburg college. She was an interested worker in the Lutheran church when her health would permit. After the death of her husband, Nov. 19, 1927 [should be 1926], she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Francis Farmer. During her illness she had been under the care of a special nurse.

OBITUARY from the WAYNESBURG REPUBLICAN, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, May 24, 1928:
Mrs. Anna Allum Fugard, a native of this county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jack Farmer, of Newton, Iowa, Friday, May 11, aged 77 years, of pneumonia. She had been in failing health for several months. Mrs. Fugard was born in Richhill township, this county, December 22, 1850, and was a daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth Supler Allum, deceased. She was a graduate of Waynesburg College in the class of 1876. For a few years she taught in the schools of Richhill township. In 1883 she removed to Iowa where she had since resided. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and was highly esteemed. Her husband, Ira G. Fugard, died November 19, 1926. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Guy Wilson, of Buffalo Lake, Minn.; Mrs. Earl Smith, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mrs. Jack Farmer, of Newton, Iowa, and one grandchild, Geraldine Wilson, and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Huffman, of Graysville, this county. The funeral was held on Monday. Interment in the cemetery at Newton, Iowa.
