Daughter of Anderson A. Cowsert and Mary Agnes Stephenson who married in Williamson Co., Tennessee Jan. 20, 1842 (Tennessee State Marriages 1780-2002 database at Ancestry.com). Anderson is believed to have died before 1850; his burial location is unknown.

Mary Frances and her mother, brother (William James Cowsert), and extended family removed to Fannin Co., Texas between the 1850 and 1860 US Censuses.

On Nov. 26, 1865 in Fannin Co. she married Thomas L. Cashion (Texas Marriage Collection database at Ancestry.com). They had six known children: James Leon Cashion, Richard A. Cashion, Jesse Mason Cashion, A. Blanche Cashion (m. Robert Kennedy Beauchamp), Allie Belle Cashion (m. Charles Lafayette Boze), and Thomas Bartley Cashion. All are linked below except for Blanche Cashion Beauchamp, who is believed to have died about 1914 in Foard Co., Texas but her burial has not been located.

Mary Frances remained in Fannin Co. until her death in 1886 at the age of 41. Her brother, William James Cowsert, lived until 1899 and is buried in Jones Co., Texas (Findagrave #47583186). Their mother, Mary Agnes Stephenson Cowsert, was last found on the 1880 census for Fannin Co. She is believed to be buried in this county but her location is unknown.
