Robert Young Beckham was a Veteran of the Civil War having served as a Private in Company B, 44th Georgia Regiment, CSA and Company H. 44th Georgia Regiment C.S.A. He enlisted on 4 Mar 1862. Wounded at Ellison's Mill, Virginia, 26 Jun 1862; Chancellorsville, Virginia 2 May 1863. Wounded in right eye, resulting in loss of sight at Wilderness, Virginia on 5 May 1864. The Muster Roll dated August 31, 1864, last on file, shows him on sick furlough. No later record. Laura Hull (Jordan) Beckham was still alive in 1932 as one of the living Confederate Widows in Pike Co, GA.
