Mr. Griswold died suddenly of an apparent heart attack at about 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10. He was stricken at his home and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1913, in Fort Madison and was a lifelong resident of the Community. He was a retired DuPont Co. employee with 37 years of service.
On Sept 26, 1941 in Fort Madison, he married Irene Britton who survives.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the DuPont Athletic Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son. Michael Griswold, Burlington; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Carol) Salli, Buffalo, NY, and Mrs. Jeff (Mary Jo) Creen, Fort Madison; a brother, Frank Griswold, Fort Madison; Two sisters, Mrs. Grace Dovin, Fort Madison, and Mrs. Esther Pardue, Pleasanton. Calif.; and two grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
His parents were Simeon and Eva Swinderman Griswold.
The body was at the King-Lynk Funeral Home where friends called after 9 a.m. Sunday, November 12, and where the parish Christian Wake Service was held be at 7 Sunday evening.
A memorial was established with Sacred Heart Church. Contributions were made at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.
