Martin G. Gilliland, 79, of the Scattersburg community passed away last Thursday, June 23rd. His brother Wesley J. Gilliland, who made his home with him, followed him in death on Sunday, June 26th. Both were long time residents of the Scattersburg vicinity. Both had been ill for some time.

Wesley J. Gilliland was born in Indiana, September 25th, 1849 and departed this life June 26th, 1932. Age 82 years, 9 months and 1 day. He was united in marriage to Nancy Tadlock, October 1917. She preceded him in death ten years ago and since that time he had made his home here with his brother, who precede him in death only three days. He leaves to mourn his loss, one sister Rena McCarty of Ottumwa, Iowa, two half-brothers, David and Lewis of Grant City, Missouri, one half-sister, Mrs. Belle Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa, besides many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. Walter G. Lagle assisted in the song service by the Peterson sisters of Munterville who sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Does Jesus Care," " No Night There".

Interment was made in the family lot at Moravia Cemetery.
