By reason of the death of two prominent lady residents on the same date, Thursday, February 29th, proved to be a very sad day indeed for the people of our town.
Mrs. Benjamin Depew passed away at 8 o'clock a.m. at the General Hospital in Fremont after an illness of several years' duration, which finally terminated in dropsy, and Mrs. Fritz Riethmueller died at 6:30 o'clock p.m. on the same day and at the same place.
Both were well and favorably known in this community, having lived here the greater part of their lives. The remains of Mrs. Depew were sent to Michigan for interment, while those of Mrs. Riethmueller were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery here Sunday, following a funeral service at the church.
