This Well Known Charlotte Citizen Died Yesterday Afternoon at his Home in Dilworth - Kicked by a Horse and Suffers Internal Injuries - Funeral To-Morrow Afternoon at 5 O'clock - Interment at Elmwood.

Mr. Peter Anderson Osborne, who, for more than 30 years has been a resident of Charlotte, died at his home in Dilworth, a little after 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon. the announcement of his death came as a very great surprise to many Charlotte friends and acquaintances, many of whom were altogether unaware that anything out of the ordinary had occurred.

Mr. Osborne's death was due to internal injuries received Sunday morning. He had turned out his two horses in the front yard to graze, and when he was ready to stable them, he went out to drive them in. Mr. Osborne caught one by the mane and was ready to catch the other that was standing near. At this moment, however, the horse kicked, striking Mr. Osborne in the pit of the stomach. Several neighbors who saw the occurrence, rushed over and bore the wounded man into the house. Medical assistance was at once summoned and everything possible was done to relieve the excruciating pain of the sufferer. It was thought at the time that the internal injuries would result fatally and this proved to be the case, death coming as a relief to his great pain a few minutes after 1 o'clock yesterday.

Mr. P. A. Osborne was born in Ayersville, and at the time of his death, was 57 years of age. He was the son of the late Marshall Osborne, one of the best known citizens of Stokes county.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Springs Osborne, and three children, Misses Connie, Marjorie, and Master William Osborne. Two brothers and two sisters also survive him. These are Mr. L. W. Osborne, of Charlotte; Mr. E. N. Osborne, of Hopewell, Arkansas; Misses Sallie and Vick Osborne, of Smith Grove.

The funeral services will be conducted from the home to-morrow afternoon at 5 o'clock, by Rev. J. A. Dorritee, Dr. M. D. Hardin, and Rev. Geo. W. Belk. The interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Osborne was well known in Charlotte. He has been prominently identified with many of its interests. for a number of years he was in the harness business, but some two years ago, he disposed of his interests and since then has been running a grocery store on North College street.

The deceased was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church, and was a high type of well rounded Christian gentleman.
