John came from Luzerne Co to the "Lee Settlement" in 1829, purchasing 100 acres of land to the North of Shady Nook.
He was a blacksmith and did work for those working on the turnpike when it was being built.

In 1848, he moved to the "Colley Settlement" .

Listed in 1860 census of "Cully" (Colley) Twp., Sullivan Co., Pa. with wife Betsy and daughter Margaret.
