George Hardeman Locklin, born in Milam Co., TX - Son of Jesse Daniel Locklin and Mary Agnes Taylor.

Brother of Mary Elizabeth "Mae" Locklin.

Grandson of William Hardeman Locklin and Prescilla Ellison.

George married Annie Maye Hayman, a daughter of John Benjamin Hayman and Bertha Annie Ham.

George and Annie had no children.

Locklin

George Hardeman Locklin, age 62, died at his home in Shepherd January 26, 1977. A 35 year resident of Shepherd was born August 9, 1914 in Thorndale, Texas. He was retired maintenance foreman for the Texas Highway Dept. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Shepherd Lodge #866 A.F. & A.M., a member and times Past Patron Shepherd Chapter 1003 O.E.S. Member Houston Scottish Rite Mason Bodies and a member of the Houston Arabic Temple Shrine and Veteran of W.W. II.

Survivors include wife, Mrs. Annie May Locklin of Shepherd; mother, Mrs. Agnes Locklin of Grapevine; sister, Mrs. Maye Elizabeth Stokes of Dallas.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday January 28, 1977 from the First Baptist Church of Shepherd with Rev. James Downey, pastor, Rev. Charles Windsor of Shepherd and Rev. H.E. Zimmerman of Evergreen officiating.

Casketbearers were Gary Parker, Monroe Williamson, Myron Foster, James Dixon, T.A. Hayman, Jr. and Elliott Jordan.

Masonic graveside services conducted by Shepherd Lodge #866 A.F. & A.M. with Masonic pallbearers: William Lilley, Bob McLain, Robert McKellar, James "Humpy" Parker, Charles Sanborn & Ronnie Corn. Honorary casketbearers were members of First Baptist Church Deacon body, Men's Adult Sunday School Class. Members of the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Department composed the honor guard. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Coldspring, Texas.

Pace-Stancil Funeral Home of Cleveland directing all services.
