PICKENS, SC - October 4 - Mrs. Alice J. Simmons, 79, died this morning following a lengthy illness.

She was a member of the Griffin Baptist Church for 63 years and was active in the church affairs.

Surviving are the following daughters, Mrs. Annie Durham, Mrs. Ola Riggins and Mrs. Essie Jones; the following sons, J. R., S. J., W. H., J. G., T. A., J. M. and F. O. Simmons; two sisters, Mrs. Ela Sperling, and Mrs. Carey Roper, and the following brothers, Spartan, T. H., John and Jesse Childs; 77 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Griffin Baptist Church at 12 o'clock Wednesday conducted by the Rev. F. S. Childress.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Guy, Cecil, Jesse, Roscoe and Frank Simmons and Furman Riggins.

Honorary escorts will be the members of the Ladies Bible class of the Griffin Baptist Church.

The body is at the home of Mrs. Essie Jones until the services.
