Norine Ruth Baker Walls, 98, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with David Evans of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Walls was born Sept. 18, 1903, in Carson County to Richard D. "Dick" and Bessie Baker. She was the oldest daughter of one of the first families to homestead in Carson County. She was raised on the family farm west of Conway and attended Tony Ridge School.
She married Roy Glenn Walls on Feb. 15, 1922. They resided in Carson County several years before moving to Potter County. She was a Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was active in Carson County Home Demonstration Club in the 1930s and 1940s and the Highland Park School PTA.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; three brothers, R.A. "Ross" Baker, Asbury Baker and C.B. "Clemmie" Baker; a sister, Blanche Jenkins; an infant son, Donald Kent Walls; and a grandson, Stanley Sellman.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Houston of Houston, Velma Lou Sellman of Elgin, Hazel Dockery of Grand Junction, Colo., and Linda Clark of Claude; two sons, Clifton Walls of Boerne and Richard "Dick" Walls of Grand Junction; a sister, Minnie Sibold of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Carson County Square House Museum in Panhandle or a favorite charity.
The family will receive visitors at the family farm east of Amarillo.
