Mr. John Clyde Bumgarner, better known as "Clyde", age 81, Wilkesboro died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at Cub Creek Baptist Church. Burial with military rites by Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bumgarner was born in Wilkes County, October 3, 1921, to Filmore and Viola Fairchild Bumgarner. He was a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Bumgarner served in Europe with the US Army during World War II. He retired from Northwestern Bank. Mr. Bumgarner was also a member of the Moravian Falls Optimist Club.

Mr. Bumgarner is survived by his wife, Victoria Roope Bumgarner of the home; two daughters, Pat Hamby of Moravian Falls and Sandy Sheets of Wilkesboro; one sister, Mildred Eaton of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Paul Bumgarner of Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Jodi Hamby Skabo of Moravian Falls, Derek Hamby of Charlotte, Torey Sheets and Nick Sheets both of Wilkesboro; one great grandson, Cole Skabo of Moravian Falls.
