Gwen L. Kopechne, 89, of East Stroudsburg, died on Thursday, Dec. 20, in Valley Crest Nursing Home in Wilkes-Barre.

Born on June 8, 1918, in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of Marie and William Jennings.

She was raised in the Wilkes-Barre area and was married to Joseph A. Kopechne for more than 60 years.

She and Joe lived in New Jersey for many years, then in 1973 they moved back to Pennsylvania and lived in Laurel Springs in Swiftwater for 28 years until they moved to East Stroudsburg. Joe died in 2003.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and much loved by many relatives and friends.

Gwen and Joe's only child, Mary Jo Kopechne, predeceased her in 1969.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at All Saints Church on Willow St., Plymouth.
