Mother of Mrs. Frances Michaelson Taken Friday Eve
Mrs. Thomas L. Mullen of 504 College Avenue, DeKalb, mother of Mrs. Frances Michaelson of Sycamore, passed away Friday evening at the St. Mary's hospital in DeKalb. She was an esteemed resident of DeKalb community for a number of years.
Mrs. Mullen was born in Chicago and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McGuire. Prior to her marriage to Thomas L. Mullen in 1918, she taught school in Chicago. After marrying she and her husband resided on the Mullen farm, located several miles south of De Kalb until his death in 1939, when she moved to DeKalb to make her home.
The decedent was a devout member of St. Mary's church, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Left to mourn her passing are two daughters, Annie Marie Mullen of DeKalb and Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Michaelson of Sycamore, also a sister-in-law, Celia Mullen of DeKalb and a niece, Alice Kain of DeKalb.
On Saturday evening the body was taken to the Sycamore home of her daughter at 522 West State street, where friends called, and where the Rosary was said Sunday evening at 8 o'clock.
Final services were conducted Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from St. Mary's church in DeKalb, with the Rev. Charles Quinn officiating. Burial took place in the St. Mary's cemetery at DeKalb.
