Garrick Wayne Fillmore, 94
DIED: 1 March 2022
PLACE: His Taylorsville, Utah home

BORN: 1 September 1927
PLACE: Clark, Idaho (borders SW edge of Montana, neighboring Ceremony Cty)

PARENTS: Garrick William and Sarah Lettie (Tolley) Fillmore

Wayne was one of their eight children, having five brothers and two sisters, two of whom survived him. They are Max Fillmore and Ray Fillmore.

In 1945, Wayne enlisted in the U. S. Army and served the next two years in WWII. The following year, in 1948, Wayne served as a missionary in the Western States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Just prior to his departure, he asked one of his brothers if the girl he was taking out that night had a sister she could bring along. She did--and that's how Wayne met Fern Wheeler. Shortly after his release, the two married in the Idaho Falls Temple on 3 March 1950. (No doubt they had a wonderful reunion and anniversary this year!)

Over the years, he and Fern lived in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, and Utah. They served in various capacities in each of the wards, as well. Some of Wayne's callings included being a scout leader, Home Teacher, Sunday School instructor, and part of a bishopric. He and Fern also served Senior missions in South Carolina and Ireland. Wayne was an incredible example of love and service, and it showed in everything he did.
