Born in Gray Court, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Sallie Mae Taylor Bragg. She retired from Torrington Bearing Company and was member of the House of Prayer in Simpsonville.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon O. and Leland Simmons of Laurens, SC, and Judy O. and Joseph Simmons of Enoree, SC; two sisters, Louise Suttles of Fountain Inn, SC, and Lucille Prather of Simpsonville, SC; six step-children; three grandchildren; 28 step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
