JULIAN EDWARD CLARK, age 83 of 900 North Taylor street, Arlington, Va. died Saturday April 4, 1998 in Arlington, Va. Born January 24, 1915 in New Paris, Ohio he was the son of the late Edward R. & Carrie L. Kirkpatrick Clark. The former Eaton resident retired in 1993 after 52 years as an practicing attorney in the Eaton area. A 1933 graduate of the New Paris, Ohio High School; 1937 graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana; 1940 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School; 1941 he started his Law practice in the old St. Clair building in Eaton; he served in the Preble County Prosecutor's office from 1941 to 1944 as the Assistant Prosecutor and from 1944 to 1952 as Prosecutor; member of the Fellowship Lodge #106 Free & Accepted Masons at New Paris since 1937; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton since 1942; Antioch Shrine of Dayton; Royal Select Masons, Preble Council #135 of Eaton; Eaton Chapter #22 Royal Arch Masons; Reed Commandery #6 Knight Templar of Dayton; Charter member of the New Paris Lions Club, transferred to the Eaton Lions Club in June 1942 where he served as Secretary in 1945 and as President in 1950-1951; awarded the Lions Key Membership in January 1952; Lions Advanced Master Key in 1966; Lions 50 year Chevron in 1992; Lions Life Member and Melvin Jones award in 1993; he served in many other positions in the Eaton Lions Club including the Tailtwister ; his nickname in the Lions Club was "Bucket"; member and past Elder of the First Presbyterian church in Eaton; member of the Preble County and the Ohio State Bar Association; American Bar Association; he had served on various committees of the state bar; member of the University of Michigan President's Club; Earlham College President's Circle. Preceded in death by a brother: Paul Clark in 1970; by a sister: Mildred Clark in 1994; by a niece: Emily F. Hendricks in 1996.

Julian is survived by his wife of 56 years: Isabelle J. (Knoll) Clark; daughter and son-in-law: Betsy C. & James R. Cooke of Arlington, Va.; nephew: James Clark of Dayton, Ohio, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 9, 1998 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Presbyterian Church, 123 West Decatur street, Eaton, Ohio, with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday April 8, 1998 at the Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio from 6 to 8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Eaton Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 8:00 P.M. followed by the Fellowship Lodge #106 at 8:15 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 123 West Decatur Street, Eaton, Ohio 45320.
