Joy S. Baumann, 55, of Lewistown, died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2008, following a battle with cancer.
She was born March 4, 1952, in Mattoon, Ill., the daughter of Roy and Naomi (Daily) Adair. She received her schooling in Mattoon, graduating from Mattoon High School and then attended and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a master's degree in Special Education.
She was united in marriage to Rick Steele in Odin, Ill. They lived in the Charleston area and she was a teacher for students with learning disabilities in the Charleston school system for many years. On Feb. 26, 2000, she was united in marriage to Ronald G. Baumann in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Lewistown and she worked in the Central Montana Learning Resource Center in Lewistown until the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband, Ron of Lewistown; daughter Heidi Joy (Dustin) Chambers of Mattoon; and granddaughter Emmerson Joy Chambers; stepsons, Christopher Baumann of Driggs, Idaho, and Brian (Alexandria) Baumann of Lewistown and children Zeke and Chloe; father Roy and stepmother Wilma Adair of Lerna, Ill.; three brothers, Mike (Rhonda) Adair of Charleston, Ill., Andy (Christine) Adair of Mattoon and Pat (Judy) Adair of Charleston; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Adair and her grandparents, in addition to her husband Rick.
