Obit from the Amherst Echo
GRONDIN - In Amherstburg, on Tuesday, Oct. 4th, Mrs. Joseph Grondin, aged 95 years.
Deceased's maiden name was Renaud; was born in Essex in Oct. 1786 and was married to Grondin in 1801, being then 15 years of age. She became the mother of 13 children, 6 of whom survive her, viz., Oliver Grondin of Amherstburg; Edward and Louis Grondin of Anderdon; MRs. JOseph Burk of Grosse Isle; Mrs. Cyrille Meloche of AMherstburg; Mrs. A. McKenny of Anderdon; MRs. Henry Ford of Ionia, Mich.; and Mrs. Jos. Shaw of Amherstburg. Mrs. Burk, the eldest, is now 79 years of age. Ten of deceased's children married and brought into the world 102 children, a large majority of whom are living; and many of whom are the parents of large families, and some of her grandchildren are grandparents. The total number of surviving descendants is somewhat over 500, mostly living in this county. Mrs. Grondin was always very healthy, and up to within a few days of her death was able to be around the house, had full use of all her faculties, and was quite hearty. A few years ago she cut three new teeth, which enabled her to eat solid food.
The place of burial, as well as the original obituary was given by Robert Grondin.
