US Congressman. After graduating from Yale University in 1903 and from the law school of Columbia University in 1906, he was admitted to the bar and began a lifelong legal practice in his hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1908 and 1909, president judge of the Orphans' Court of Berks County in 1914 and 1915, and a delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 1916 and 1924. Bushong was elected as a Republican to the Seventieth Congress, representing Pennsylvania's 14th District, and served from 1927 to 1929. He did not seek another term and returned to his law practice in Reading, where he died. (bio by: Bobb Edwards)
