GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Karen A. Mahlstedt, 59, of Greenville, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (Dec. 15, 2007) in Johnson City, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Karen A. Mahlstedt was born Feb. 2, 1948, in Charles City, daughter of Kenneth and Charlotte(Runyan)Fods. She attended school in Clarksville.

She was united in marriage to Larry King of Charles City in 1965. She worked various positions until attending Cedar Falls School of Beauty and graduating in 1976. Upon completion she worked at the Golden Touch Beauty Salon and then opened her own salon, PHD (Personalized Hair Design).

In 1993, she was united in marriage to Gary Mahlstedt. They resided in Mason City until Gary's passing. While living in Mason City she worked as a home health aide for Cerro Gordo County. Karen moved to Greeneville, Tenn., to be around her family and friends and to enjoy her future years.

She enjoyed spending time with family and was an avid pet lover. She also enjoyed camping with her family, fishing with her grandchildren, country music concerts and going out to dinner with her friends.

Karen is survived by her first husband, Larry King; children, Jeff King and wife, Chris, and Mike King; step-daughters and stepson, Toni Trujello and husband, Ed, Tammy Hello and husband, Mitch, Terry Mahlstedt and wife, Kris, honorary daughter, Michelle Winters and husband, Jeremy; grandchildren and honorary grandchildren, Nathan, Lydia, Callie, Tyler, Cody, Samantha, Nick, Christopher, Cassandra, Stina, Chris, Shay, Brett, Will, Rumy, Joe, Little Eddy, Donovan, Lane, Mackenzie, Raynee and Colton; two step-brothers, Jim Pierce and wife Patty and Norman Pierce and wife Doreen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; mother, Charlotte Fods; father, Kenneth Fods; one brother, Kenneth Fods; and a step-sister, Margorie Engbarth (Pierce).
