|Birth: ||Sep. 4, 1836|
|Death: ||Sep. 26, 1903|
He was the son of Hamilton Buffington and Elizabeth Jane Hinn.
Thomas Buffington, whose death occurred at Clarinda last Saturday, was for twenty-nine years a resident of Valley township and consequently his death is mourned by a large circle of acquaintances. The news of his death came as a surprise to his former neighbors who were unaware of his serious illness. His funeral took place at North Grove conducted by Rev. S. M. Perkins, pastor of the Christian church at Villisca. From his son-in-law, James Sams, we learn that Mr. Buffington was born in Adams county, Ill., Sept. 4 1836, also that he came to Page county in 1863; that his wife's maiden name was Adelia Quire and that the offspring of their marriage was eleven children, ten of whom with their mother survive him. Mr. Buffington was honest, frugal and industrious, and when he left Page county in 1892 to take up his residence north of Villisac, he sold as good a 200 acre farm as there was in Valley township. In politics he was a Democrat, and in religion an Adventist and as a citizen law abiding.
