Cecil Swisher
Friday services are scheduled for Cecil R. Swisher, 89, of Louisiana Avenue, Chester, a retired pottery worker, who died Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at home following a three - week illness. He was born in West Virginia June 20, 1898, a son of the late Henry and Emma Montgomery Swisher. Mr. Swisher was employed for 25 years in the maintenance department of the former Taylor, Smith and Taylor Co. before retiring in 1957, and was a member of the Glass, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union. His wife, Ruby B. Swisher, who he married Feb. 19, 1917, died March 24, 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Emil (Martha) Rice, at home, and Mrs. Charles (Wilma) Elliott of Chester; four grandchildren, 11 great - grandchildren and four great - great - grandchildren. The Rev. Howard Bailes of the Chester Free Methodist Church is to conduct the services at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial is to be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
