On June 1, 1957, Gwen was united in marriage to Maurice L. Vaughn in Peru. Two children, Gary and Shari, were born to this union. The couple made their home in Auburn, Nebraska to raise their family.
Gwen taught business and typing classes at Auburn High School from 1965 to 1997, helping many students prepare themselves for the business world. She was constantly teaching, even making sure the grandkids got their homework finished. The legacy she left will remain for years to come.
A member of the Auburn Country Club, Gwen enjoyed golfing and playing cards, especially pitch, pinochle, and bridge. She was known for her baking and loved dancing and fishing with Morrie. She even bought a fishing boat after Morrie's passing.
In her later years, as her health became an issue, Gwen moved to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair, Nebraska. It was there, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, she passed away at the age of 87 years and 29 days.
