At the age of 4, the family moved to Aurora, and he attended the Aurora Schools, where he was active in athletics.
On March 8, 1968, he was united in marriage to Eloris Epp at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
Don was a career serviceman, beginning his career in 1948, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retiring at the Aurora Jack & Jill Store and the Holtzen Meat Processing Plant, and had worked for the City of Aurora. He also worked as a security guard at the Grand Island Ordinance Plant, and his last employment was as a Pinkerton Security Guard at the Sunstrad Plant in York. He had lived at Hampton since he was 38 years old.
Don was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at Hampton, and belonged to the Hampton American Legion Post #141, and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #4993 at Aurora. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Dorothy Melhorne and one brother, Lawrence "Larry" Nuss.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Eloris of Hampton; 2 daughters, Chandra Nuss of Hampton, and Randyce Peard of Phillips; one son Kelly Boyden of Aurora. 3 brothers, Gerald of Aurora, Richard of Grand Island, and Robert of North Platte; 2 sisters, Suzanne Paulman, and Arlene Paustian, both of Grand Island, and 6 grandchildren.
