He was a pitcher for seven seasons (1962 to 1968) with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. His career highlight came as a member of the 1967 World Champion Cardinals, appearing in 3 games during the World Series. After retiring as a player, Lamabe coached baseball at LSU.
