Mrs. David BOWER, died at her home on South Center street last Monday night, at 11 o'clock. Death was due to a complication of diseases and came after a several years' ailment. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Church of the Brethren, conducted by the pastor, Rev. I R Beery, assisted by Elders J G Stinebaugh and Riley Montgomery. Interment was made in Maple Lawn cemetery.
Sarah BOWER, nee BARNARD- was the daughter of Jonathan and Mollie BARNARD and was born in Carroll county, Indiana, February 6, 1845. She lived and grew to womanhood on the Barnard homestead about a mile east of Flora.
On March 6, 1864, she was united in marriage to Elder Abraham J. FLORA, also of this county. To this union were born four children, one of which died in infancy. The other three are Elder Riley FLORA, of the Walnut Stump vicinity and Perry FLORA and Mrs. J. J. STINEBAUGH, of near Flora.
In 1865 'Aunt Sarah' united with the Church of the Brethren and was, during the rest of her long life, a most consistent and helpful worker in all of the church's activities. The husband passed on to his reward. On May 29, 1902, she remarried. This time, David BOWER , until her death.
An aged husband, the three children above mentioned, two step-children, Mrs. David MYER, of east of town, and Frank FLORA, of Peoria, Illinois; 3 grandchildren and a host of friends are left to mourn her departure.
