William "Bill" Ables, 60, of Ocean Park, Wash. died of cancer Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in Portland, Ore. An eight-year resident of Ocean Park, Ables lived in Barstow for 15 years. He was a civil service worker at the Marine Corps Logistics Base and served 15 years in the United States Army. Survivors include his mother, Bessie Ables of Wellington, Kan.; his wife, Gwendlyn Ables of Ocean Park; three sons, Michael Ables of Newberry Springs, Alan Ables and William Ables Jr., both of Ocean Park; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach, Wash. is in charge of the arrangements.
