Tragic Accident Kills Grover Boy
Westly Anderson Almost Instantly Killed When Two Wheels of Truck Pass Over His Head.
One of the most distressing accidents ever to occur in Star Valley happened last Saturday evening when Wesley Anderson, 12 son of Mr. and Mrs. David Anderson of Grover, was crushed under the wheels of truck driven by his father.
The family had started out to do the milking and were riding in the truck. They had lost a milk strainer the day before and were trying to locate it as they drove along. Wesley, with one of his brothers, was sitting in the rear of the truck and spied the strainer. He jumped out to get it and the other brother told his father to stop the car. The car being on a grade, started backward when Mr. Anderson's foot slipped from the brake. They noticed a jolt as the car passed over what they thought to be a rock, and looking in front of the car discovered that what they thought to be a rock they had passed over was the head of their boy, two wheels of the truck having passed over him.
He was rushed home and a doctor called but by the time he arrived the little fellow was dead. The tragic accident caused the parents to be almost frantic with grief.
Impressive funeral services were held at the Grover ward meeting house Tuesday afternoon and the building was filled to overflowing with sorrowing relatives and friends. the casket was banked with beautiful floral tribute, sent by loving friends, as a final tribute of sympathy and respect for the boy and the heart broken parents and other relatives.
Speakers at the services were L.C.Jensen, Frank Cranney, Bishop Ray S. Thurman, Joseph N. Anderson and Martin Hobson, each of whom spoke words of comfort to the bereaved ones.
Surviving, besides the parents, are three sisters, Mrs. King Cranney of Auburn, Nina and Delpha Anderson, and two brothers, Raymond and Floyd Anderson all of Grover.
