Evan Douglas Yazzie, 59 of Ririe, Idaho passed away November 1, 2021, at the Vibra Hospital of Boise.
Doug was born March 19, 1962, in Rigby, Idaho, a son of Woody Raymond Yazzie and Alice LaJuan Ricks Yazzie. He was raised in Ririe and graduated from Ririe High School. He continued his education at Chico State in Chico, CA and the University of Phoenix with an Associates in Business Management. He was self employed in Chico, CA and worked for Steed Construction in Salt Lake City, Utah as a project manager.
Doug was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings such as Elders Quorum President, Executive Secretary, Young men's, scouting and over saw youth conferences. Evan loved spending time with his family, fishing, ice fishing, hiking, hunting, anything outdoors. He loved to cook, which he was really good at. He loved John Wayne movies and was an excellent sasquatch hunter.
Doug is survived by his daughters: Lindsey (James Thompson) Yazzie of Cave Creek, AZ, Emily (John Potucek) Yazzie of Ogden, Utah, Kelsea (Christopher) Thomas of Layton, Utah, Katelin (Tyler) Young of Longview, Texas; son, Tyler (Erika Ailes) Yazzie of Riverside, Ohio; sisters: Julia (Kenneth) Fagnant of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Nadine Peterson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother Michael (Rusty) Yazzie of Mooreland, Idaho, Patrick Yazzie of Thayne, Wyoming and 16 grandchildren.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Woody Raymond Yazzie, mother, Alice LaJuan Ricks Yazzie, sister Pamela, Yazzie-Grover, brothers- in-law, Reed Grover and Donald Peterson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday. November 6, 2021 at the Perry Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ririe. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
