Birth: Jan. 8, 1877
Oregon, USA
Death: Mar. 15, 1919
Spokane County
Washington, USA

Roy Gay Adams was born near Eugene, Oregon, January 8, 1877; died at his home near Fairfield, Washington, March 15, 1919. Mr. Adams had suffered an attack of influenza the week before his death and was apparently recovered from the disease when he suffered a relapse Friday morning, passing away Saturday morning at 1:30.
Roy came to Fairfield with his parents June 12, 1881, and spent his boyhood days in this district, where he received his common school education. He spent seven years at Pullman State College where he took a thorough course in agriculture, and graduated from the college in 1906. He then took charge of the Arthur D. Jones farms between Valleyford and Waverly, which he managed for several years. Later he was manager of the Brown estate on Moran prairie, resigning this position to take charge of a 4,000 acre ranch at Olix, Oregon. From Olix he went to Ritzville, where he held the position of county agriculturalist of Adams County. After two years in Adams County he came back to Fairfield and purchased the farm just south of town where he lived until his death. On June 26, 1908, he was married to Miss Jessie Alice Haevernick, of Lewiston, Idaho.
He is survived by his widow, two sons, one daughter, his father and mother, three brothers and one sister. Mr. Adams was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and the school board. He was a good citizen, a kind husband and father and had many friends, who will greatly miss him. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the home of J.W. Adams and internment made in the family lot in the Rockford cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful and very numerous.
